Scubasight dive mirror
ScubaSight is a practical and innovative tool that allows divers to expand the field of vision underwater which is often limited by the bulky and restrictive scuba diving equipment.
This ScubaSight mirror enables you to locate your buddy without any unnecessary movement, to solve your underwater problems and to signal.
All these advantages allow scubadivers to concentrate to a greater extent on their undersea world and ensure a safer and more relaxing dive.

How the use of the mirror expands underwater vision

Vision and movement are limited by scuba diving equipment
Scuba equipment allows us to explore the underwater world but limits us in other ways. Our scuba diving mask allows us to see but at the same time restricts our sight and reduces our peripheral vision. The use of a hood further reduces that vision. Thermal suits, tanks, and weights all restrict our movement which effects our ability to see. Instead of just being able to shift our eyes to look at something as we can on land, we now have to turn our head or body. When we turn in the water to look we are pulling the weight of our equipment with us and then must pull it back to return to the position we were in. If we are using double tanks and have stage bottles slung at our sides than we are pulling a lot of weight. To accomplish this we use more energy. We may have become used to this movement and not notice it but we are using the energy to do it nonetheless. As we use more energy we also use more air.

More energy used = More air consumption
Relaxing and enjoying your dive = Less air consumption

ScubaSight regains and expands vision helping the scuba diver to relax and save air.
Using the mirror allows us to gain back some of that lost vision and also expands our vision to let us see things around us that would be impossible to see without the mirror. Instead of moving our whole body we can use the mirror for viewing by changing its angle and position to monitor our underwater environment. We can start to be more selective and save our air and energy for something worth turning to look at. We can stay in a horizontal streamlined position as we efficiently move through the water. We can stay in this position as we move up a mooring line and monitor the divers above us with the mirror. We do not have to move to a vertical position and raise our head to see above us. We also don't have to risk pulling the seal from our neck and having water trickle into our drysuit as we look up. Like any scuba diving skill it can take some practice in order to enjoy all the benefits of scuba diving with a mirror. A scuba diver has to remember to use the mirror instead of constantly shifting his or her body. Diving in this way should result in the use of less air which always makes scuba diving less stressful and more enjoyable which in turn makes diving safer.

Use the mirror to check scuba equipment for leaks

The mirror gives the diver the ability to check for leaks in scuba diving equipment that is situated behind the diver. Use the mirror to check all valve connections, hose connections and the BC bladder for leaks while submerged and before descending. If a leak develops and and the sound of leaking gas is heard during the dive, then the dive mirror may be used to instantly see the size of the escaping bubbles. No valuable time is wasted trying to get the attention of a buddy to look for you.

Identify and solve problems underwater

A leaking scuba diving mask can ruin your dive. An improperly sealed mask may be caused by something caught under the mask skirt such as hair or part of a wet or dry hood. ScubaSight allows you to look and see exactly what is causing the leak, make an adjustment and enjoy the rest of your dive. Better yet, use the mirror to inspect your mask before entering the water.

How to signal with a mirror

Signaling with a mirror is simply redirecting the suns light to a specific place or target so that the flash of the mirror can be seen by someone in the target area.
The mirror must be held at the correct angle in relationship to where the sun is positioned in the sky while facing the target.

When diving ScubaSight offers many more advantage than a common signal mirror:

  • has a bungee strap to keep it securely on the hand while signaling.

  • is made for scuba diving and guaranteed to be completely waterproof. The reflectivity of the mirror is unaffected by salt water.

  • has many uses for the scuba diver besides signaling. You may never need a signal mirror but can use ScubaSight® on every dive.

Use ScubaSight to locate a buddy that is behind or above you. Stay relaxed and use the mirror instead of twisting around to look.
